SKARŻYSKO-KAMIENNA – CITY ON ROUTE
Skarżysko-Kamienna is a town with a population of nearly 50,000, situated in the northern part of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodship, on the edge of the Świętokrzyskie Forest. It is located at the intersection of the main national road and rail routes leading from Warsaw to Cracow and from Łódź to Rzeszów. It stretches picturesquely in the valley of the Kamienna River and its tributaries, as well as on the surrounding hills.
A city attractive for tourists
Skarżysko-Kamienna is an excellent base for trips to the Świętokrzyskie region, but there are also many worth visiting sites within the city. You are more than welcome to visit the White Eagle’s Museum, which has one of the largest military collections in Poland, located on an area of over 1.5 ha. The city is also known for the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn with the only replica of the Vilnius Gate of Dawn in the country. A very unique and worth seeing place is the Rydno archaeological reserve, hiding traces of human cultures from the last 14,000 years. In the city, you can also admire numerous examples of industrial and railway construction from the end of the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century.
A city open to visitors
Skarżysko-Kamienna is a city that supports interesting initiatives and is open to visitors. A number of events take place in the city, addressed not only to residents but also to visitors. A must-see are concerts and events organized every June on the occasion of City Day, the Convertible Rally, attended by crews from all over Poland, sports events of international importance, the organization of which is supported by the city (including the Wtórpol Half Marathon, Wtórpol Triathlon), or the International Investment Forum, a promotional and economic event that has been organized since 2016 by Skarżysko-Kamienna and each year brings together entrepreneurs, local government officials and experts from around the world.
The Municipal Cultural Center takes care of the attractive cultural and entertainment offer, which is a space for developing passions and talents. We also have modern sports facilities, managed by the Municipal Sports and Recreation Center, which allow for various forms of activity (including a sports hall, an ice rink).
